If you're going to theme your slot on the wild west then you may as well do it properly, and that is exactly what Nolimit City have done with Deadwood. The graphics are absolutely fantastic and with a distinctive old west theme tune playing in the background, the setting for the game has been masterfully created by the designers. One particular stand out point is that you can aim the cursor anywhere on the game and fire off a couple of shots that ring out and shatter the screen with bullet holes, nice touch!
The payable sees the lower value symbols of the game made up from the royal cards 10 through to the ace, with pays from as low as 0.05x, up to 1.25x achievable when wins are formed through them. Premium paying symbols on Deadwood consist of the shotgun, whiskey bottle, safe, pocket watch, and gold bars, where a 5 of a kind win will pay 1.5x, 2x, 2.5x, 3x, and 3.75x respectively.
Playing Deadwood can take place from as little as €0.20 a spin, with the maximum stake coming in at €100 a play. There are an impressive 8 bet sizes to choose from that range from €2 down to the minimum stake, so Nolimit City have done an outstanding job in making sure that this slot is accessible to players of all sized budgets.
The Hunter Wild feature on Deadwood is something that players of Nolimit City slots will be very familiar with from other games in their portfolio such as Harlequin Carnival. This feature is where the wild symbols of the slot will always nudge into full reel position, and with each nudge that it takes to do this it will increase in multiplier value by x1 each time. This is more commonly known throughout the Nolimit City slot catalogue as the xNudge feature, and the maximum multiplier that one wild can reach is x4.
The Shoot Out feature will be triggered in the base game when a sheriff badge lands on both reels 1 and 5. If this occurs then all low value symbols that are positioned on reels 2, 3, and 4, will act as wilds for that spin. This can lead to some very impressive base game hits if you can get lucky with premium paying symbols on either end, and see the middle of the reels littered with low value symbols.
As we mentioned in our introduction there are 2 free spin features that can be awarded on Deadwood. The first of these is triggered when scatter symbols land on reels 1, 2, and 3, with 8 free spins being awarded for this set up. The next part of this bonus will see the player offered 2 choices of volatility, these can in the form of Gunslinger Spins, or Hunter Spins, and we will now look at what each of these bring to the table in a little more detail.
Hunter Spins: Choosing to play the Hunter Free Spins round is the least volatile of the two options that you are presented with, but it doesn't mean that it still can't pay. Again the xNudge Wild is pivotal in how the bonus round plays out, and you are guaranteed with this particular bonus that at least 1 wild will land each spin. As we are now aware the xNudge Wild will always nudge into full reel position and each nudge increases the multiplier by x1 in value, when the current spin is over the running multiplier value that is located at the top right hand side of the reels will reset back to x1.
You can be awarded both additional spins during the the hunter Free Spin bonus and indeed a feature upgrade. If a sheriff symbol lands on reels 1 or 5 then you will be awarded 1 extra spin for each, whilst landing both of these symbols at once will also upgrade the bonus round to the Gunslinger free spin feature where they will remain locked in place.
Gunslinger Spins: The Gunslinger bonus round represents the most volatile of the two features that are on offer, so of course you have to expect mixed results if you choose to play this particular bonus. The feature itself has many similarities to the Hunter Free Spins bonus, but this time you are not guaranteed to land a wild symbol on every spin of the reels. The trade off for this is that when you do hit an xNudge Wild and it manoeuvres into full reel position, the multiplier amount that it generates in the top right hand side of the reels will remain in place for the duration of the bonus, and in fact can be increased if more xNudge Wild symbols land.
Additional free spins and an upgrade may also be awarded during the Gunslinger bonus. If the sheriff symbol lands on reels 1 or 5 then an extra 1 spin will be awarded for each, whilst both sheriff symbols landing will upgrade the bonus to the Shootout Gunslinger bonus where they will both remain locked in place.
The second free spin feature that can be awarded on Deadwood is the Shootout free spins, and this is triggered when a sheriff symbol lands on reels 1, and 5, as well as scatter symbols landing on each of the reels 2, 3, and 4. If this set up can be completed then you will be rewarded with 10 free spins and again the opportunity to select the volatility of your bonus round through the Hunter or Gunslinger free spins which will now look at in further detail.
Shootout Hunter Spins: Again this bonus is the lower volatile option of the two that you are presented with, and more frequent wins can be expected if you choose to play this offering. You will again through this option be guaranteed that at least 1 xNudge Wild will land in view on every spin, and as always it will move into full reel position with the multiplier increasing by x1 in value for each nudge that it takes to reach its final position. As with the basic free spin feature once your current spin is over then the multiplier will reset to a value of x1.
The most significant difference in the Shootout free spin bonus is that the sheriff symbols will remain locked in place throughout the duration of the bonus, and any low value symbol that lands on reels 2, 3, and 4, will act as a wild symbol.
Shootout Gunslinger Spins: The most volatile of all of the bonuses on Deadwood is the Shootout Gunslinger feature, and a bit of luck taking place during this round can lead to some mind blowing wins. As a whole the bonus plays out again in very similar fashion to the Shootout Hunter Spins bonus with the xNudge Wild symbols moving into full reel position and increasing in multiplier value as they do so. These are not guaranteed to land on every spin but they do behave in the same way as they do in the basic free spin bonus, and any multipliers that are awarded will remain in place and can be improved upon throughout the duration of the bonus.
Extra paying potential of course comes again with the sheriff symbols remaining in place throughout the bonus, and all low value symbols that land on reels 2, 3, and 4, will act as wilds. Ideally in this bonus round you would like to see some xNudge Wilds land in view as early as possible so that you can build up a good multiplier value, this can really get you on the edge of your seat as the feature develops and if a couple more xNudge Wilds hit further on into the bonus then the win is going to be huge.
If you are playing from a region that still allows you to buy the bonus on slots that have that facility, then you are able to do so on Deadwood. The basic feature will cost you 71x your stake to buy, whilst the Shootout free spins will cost you 750x your stake.
Everybody has their opinion about certain slots, and ours is that Deadwood is exceptional. The spread of volatility across the game is going to appeal to all players, whilst the level of excitement and entertainment is high throughout. Some will certainly raise an eyebrow about the cost to buy the Shootout free spins at 750x bet, but we would recommend that you play the demo and trigger some of the bonus rounds so that you can see how they behave.
It's a fair assessment to say that Deadwood has completely blown us away with its overall playability and outstanding design. Nolimit City really seem to be on top of their game and to be quite honest we are running out of superlatives to describe them, and literally cant wait to see what they have up their sleeve for future releases.

Deadwood follows closely in the shoes of a previous title by NoLimit City known as Tombstone.
Deadwood comes with more improved visuals, and here is my review of this slot from NoLimit City:
Deadwood offers up to 576 pay lines, and the developer has created it on a 3-4-4-4-3 setup. On it, you will get to work with 1 extra row of pay lines, unlike its other version that relies heavily on the wild west inspiration.
To place a bet, you will need at least 0.20 per single spin, while the highest possible amount is $100 per spin. This betting range is very good and suitable for all levels of players.
At 96.03 %, the RTP may be a little low, but it is still within the standard in the industry.
Deadwood has good payout potential, and the maximum that the slot can pay is 13,950x the stake, however, it’s a highly volatile game.
The developer has incorporated great ideas here, which make this slot rich in features.
Some of these features include 3 bounty hunter wilds which land up to 4 symbols on the high part of the three middle reels (2, 3 and 4). Afterwards, these will nudge towards the full reel with the help of the xNudge feature.
The 3-bounty hunter wild icons appear in the image of a fair-haired female gunslinger, a blackhat man with a beard, and a nifty-looking Indian armed with a shotgun.
Each time these wilds nudge, a progressive xNudge multiplier will be triggered.
The other great feature is the Shoot-Out Feature. To trigger it, you will need to land the sheriff star (badge icon) on the 1st and the 5th reels, and within the same spin. This way, all the royal symbols on the 2nd, 3rd and 4th reels are transformed into wilds.
Deadwood offers 4 different bonus rounds, and this is how you get to enjoy the free spins. To trigger the first 2 free spins batches, you will be required to land the scatter symbol (buffalo skull) anywhere on the reels, and within the same spin.
You will get an opportunity to select either the Hunter Spins or the Gunslinger Spins, with each offering up to 8 free spins. Afterwards, the mysterious 3rd and 4th bonus will appear.
The slot has several symbols, and the highest value ones are those that appear as stacked gold bars. Some of these symbols are Gold bars, Gold watch, Safe, Whisky bottle, Double barrel shotgun, and low-value symbols in the form of Royals.
Deadwood is a great video slot, and it seems to have everything well put together. Although the slot is suitable for all levels of players, it’s a highly volatile game that makes it very risky to play.
